Sexual Assault Recovery Assistance
The sexual assault program's philosophy is that sexual assault is not a private problem but one which must be recognized and responded to by the community. The program specifies sexual assault as a crime of power and aggression demonstrated in violence (and violation) against those in minority positions - mainly women and children. The program however, also recognizes that men can be, and are, assaulted as well.
The purpose of the program is to provide support, advocacy, counseling and assistance to victims of sexual violence and their families. In addition, the program functions to promote community awareness and education about the nature of sexual assault and its impact on society.
